Disclosures related to recognitions given to
Birch Hill Investment Advisors LLC and Birch Hill Principals

Recognitions and rankings from rating services or publications are no guarantee of future investment success and do not ensure that a current or prospective client will experience a higher level of performance results.  Such recognitions should not be construed as an endorsement of the advisor.  Recognitions may be based on information prepared and submitted by the advisor and not all advisors may elect to participate in the process.  Criteria used in making these rankings are included below.

Barron’s “Top 100 Independent Financial Advisors”

Barron’s magazine selects America’s top 100 independent investment advisors based on assets under management, revenues the advisors generate for their firms and the quality of the advisor’s practices.   Barron’s believes that advisors who have attracted and retained large volumes of assets generally have strong performance.  In 2009 Barron’s culled the list from over 560 nominations.  Nominations come from custodial organizations and other sources.  Barron’s collects data from the nominees, reviews regulatory records and conducts interviews with the advisors.

Boston Business Journal “Area’s largest Independent Investment Advisers”

Boston Business Journal conducts a survey of area investment advisers that it considers to be independent.  This may include the Boston subsidiaries of larger firms or holding companies.  In cases where the company did not return the Boston Business Journal’s survey, the publication relied on information provided on the company’s Form ADV as filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Boston Magazine’s “Boston 2012 FIVE STAR Wealth Managers”

Boston Magazine partners with Five Star Professionals, an independent research firm, to identify a select group of wealth managers in the Boston area. Candidates are identified by one of three sources: firm nomination, peer nomination or pre-qualification based on industry standing. Self nominations are not accepted. In 2012, candidates were identified from a survey of more than 13,300 registered financial services firms. Candidates must satisfy ten objective eligibility and evaluation criteria including: credentialed as an investment advisory representative, a minimum of 5 years experience, favorable regulatory and complaint history review, a fulfilled firm review, accepting new clients, one- and 5-year retention rates, assets under management, number of client households served, and educational and professional designations. Five Star Professionals conducts a regulatory review of each nominated wealth manager and contacted more than 50,300 Boston-area households to provide consumers an opportunity to submit complaints regarding a wealth manager. The final list included less than two percent of the wealth managers in the Boston area.
